As they play against the Multan Sultans in match number 28 of the tournament at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium today, the Lahore Qalandars will be looking to avoid an if-and-but situation in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6.
Qalandars started the PSL on a high note, winning five out of its first six games before losing three straight games and putting themselves in trouble.
Multan is in fourth place with eight points from eight games followed by Karachi with eight points from nine games.
For Qalandars, tonight’s match is a must-win. In addition to confirming Lahore’s place in the play-offs, a win will place them in 2nd place on the points table. If they lose it, Qalandars will be in serious trouble.
With a win for Multan, Sultans would also have 10 points and their NRR would improve from the current 0.836. Multan has already played one more game against Islamabad United, so all eyes would then be on the Karachi Kings vs Quetta Gladiators match. Qalandars will certainly hope Quetta Gladiators beat Karachi Kings on Saturday if they fail tonight.
The match between the two teams is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Geo Super, Pakistan’s premier sports channel, will live stream the PSL’s sixth edition.
